How Junagadh Became Part of India ?

 Introduction 

It was 15th august 1947 when our flags were high  and it is unforgettable day in the history of india And if u think whole india got freedom on 1947 then you are completely  wrong  ,

After independence india had  565 princely states and as per independence act , states has 2 choices , first option was  they can join india or  pakistan and second option was they can be independent  

Almost all states join either india or pakistan ,but hyderabad, jammu kashmir and junagadh were  3 states rejected to merge with either countries 

And recently pakistan prime minister imran khan released their new map claiming jammu kashmir , sichen and interestingly  junagadh which is in gujarat state 

Yes you heard it right , before  jammu kashmir conflict , it was junagadh where india and pakistan was fighting for ,Even today many people don't know that how junagadh become part of india ?

But question pops in everyone mind is ?
After 70 years why imran khan  is claiming junagadh in their new map  ?
What is the real conflict of junagadh between india and pakistan  ?

• Lets start from the time of partition where  3rd  nawab mahabat khan  was ruling  junagadh with majority  of hindus 

•  After hyderabad , junagadh was second richest state and  nawab mahabat khan was so mad ruler that he used to marry both dogs and invite britishers for dogs marriage ceremony 

• At the time of partition  he rejected  to merge with india or pakistan ,but his   favor was to join pakistan which was not possible as per geographical  and  also  because of majority hindu  

• On 15th august he met mountbatten and expressed his wish to join pakistan by arguing that junagadh will met the water boundaries of pakistan 

• It was shahnawaz bhutto who was supporting  nawab  mahabat khan to join pakistan  But historians believe that , jinna was behind all this drama and assisted shahnawaz bhutto to merge junagadh with pakistan  

• According to  the jinnah’s partition , musilm majority will merge with pakistan and  hindu majority territory will merge with india 

• But jinnah wanted junagadh to merge with pakistan even tho there were 80% of hindus living in junagadh  

• On other side sardar vallabhbhai patel was on mission to unite all princely states and people of junagadh wanted to be a part of india   but as per agreement indian govt  can't force junagadh to merge with india 

• To stop junagadh to merge with pakistan ,sardar vallabhbhai patel stopped all the food  supplies from india and asked nawab to merge with india  and later  sardar vallabhbhai patel told people of junagadh to fight for their  rights to be part of india  

• As  condition of people started worsening day by day ,people started  mass movement across junagadh by  demanding freedom from nawab  mahabat khan

• And it was november 9 1947 when provisional  govt was formed in junagadh and announced independence , 

• By this pakistan was not happy and writes letter to british  and asked  people of junagadh to vote and choose junagadh to be part of india or pakistan 

• Nehru agreed for people’s mandate and it was 20 february 1948 when more than 190600 people voted ,  and funniest thing is in total votes ,   190000 people voted in favor of india and only 91 people voted for pakistan 

• And people of junagadh were so angry on  nawab  mahabat khan rule  that   sardar vallabhbhai patel sent military  forces and navy forces  to control public and  maintain peace 

• But nawab  mahabat khan was so worried of indian army  and he got to know that people of junagadh will kill him and his family , so he  decides to go pakistan 

• By taking all his wealth  mahabat khan  left to pakistan and due to fear he escaped india so urgently that he  took 2000 dogs in flight along with him but he  forgot his wife in junagadh 

• By know this , indian govt sent his wife to pakistan with all respect and  after settling in pakistan's karachi ,mahabat khan  formed an provisional  govt 

• After 70 years ,condition of nawab family is so worse that , they get 16000 pension from pakistan govt which is less than peon 

• And in open statement  family members of nawab  said that they  lost all the  respect and regretting for leaving india  

• After indian govt  abrogated article 370 by making  jammu kashmir and ladakh as union territories, it was pakistan prime minister imran khan released their new map claiming junagadh as part of pakistan to counter indian govt 

• But  funny  thing  is , other than  turkey directly and china indirectly , no other country supported pakistan  in un assembly
